How we handle your family's data
TuitionWala ("we", "us") provides a personal tuition service for school children in Classes 1–10 through tuitionwala.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it and the choices you have. It is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it.
The account belongs to the parent. Only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or above may create an account. By adding a child you confirm that you are that child's parent or guardian and that you give verifiable consent for us to process the child's data as described here. Children never accept these terms themselves; the child profile is opened with a PIN that you set.
What we collect. From you: your name, mobile number, email (optional), city and payment status. From each child: first name, class, board, medium, date of birth (to pick age-appropriate examples), the lessons, practice questions, tests and doubts they work through, and the resulting progress record. Doubt photos are stored only for as long as the doubt thread is open plus 30 days. We do not collect location, contacts, or anything from the child's device beyond what they type or photograph in the app.
How we use it. To teach: the tutor needs to know what your child has learned to plan the next lesson. To keep you informed: weekly reports and reminders go to your WhatsApp number. To run the service: billing, support and fixing problems. We do not use children's data for advertising, we do not show ads, and we never sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Where it lives. All personal data is stored on servers located in India. A small number of trusted service providers help us operate — payments (Razorpay), messaging (WhatsApp Business), and cloud hosting — and each is bound by contract to use the data only to provide that service to us.
Your rights. From Settings you can download a copy of your family's data, correct it, or delete a child profile or the whole account. Deletion removes personal data within 30 days; anonymised, aggregated learning statistics that cannot identify anyone may be retained. You can also withdraw consent at any time by deleting the child profile, and you may nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf as the Act allows.
Questions or complaints. Write to our grievance officer at [email protected] or by post to our registered office in Ludhiana, Punjab. We acknowledge every request within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
2 · Terms of use
The agreement between you and TuitionWala
These terms apply when you create an account, use the free trial or subscribe. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We may update the terms from time to time; material changes are announced by WhatsApp and email at least 15 days before they take effect.
What TuitionWala is. A supplementary tuition service that teaches the official syllabus for the board and class you choose. It is a study aid, not a school, and it does not replace the child's school, teachers or textbooks. Lessons and tests are prepared with care, but we do not guarantee any particular exam result.
Your account. One parent account may hold several child profiles. You are responsible for keeping your password and your children's PINs private and for everything done under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access. You may not share the account outside your household, resell access or copy lesson content for redistribution.
Trial and subscription. Every new child profile gets a 7-day free trial with the full service. No payment details are needed for the trial and nothing is charged if it lapses. After the trial, access continues only on a paid plan: Monthly at ₹199 per child or Yearly at ₹1,999 per child, inclusive of GST. Plans renew automatically until you cancel from Subscription in your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
Fair use. "Unlimited doubts" means unlimited genuine questions from the child's own study. We may limit accounts that automate requests, submit content unrelated to school study, or attempt to disrupt the service. Children are expected to be respectful in conversations with the tutor; abusive content may be flagged to the parent.
Content and ownership. Lesson explanations, questions and reports created by TuitionWala remain ours. Syllabus and textbook references belong to the respective boards and NCERT. Anything your child writes or photographs remains yours; you give us permission to process it only to provide the service.
Liability and law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These terms are governed by the laws of India; courts in Ludhiana, Punjab have jurisdiction, and we will always try to settle any dispute by conversation first.
3 · Refund policy
Cancellations and refunds
We want you to pay only if TuitionWala is genuinely helping your child. The free trial exists so you can decide before paying anything, and this policy covers what happens after.
7-day money-back guarantee. If you ask within 7 days of your first payment for a child profile, we refund the full amount, no questions asked. Request it from Subscription → Request refund, or by writing to [email protected] from your registered email or mobile number.
After 7 days. Payments are not refundable, but you can cancel at any time and access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. On a Yearly plan you may also switch off auto-renew and keep using the remaining months.
When we refund anyway. If you were charged twice for the same child, if the service was unavailable for more than 48 continuous hours in a billing month, or if a renewal went through after you had cancelled, we refund the affected amount in full regardless of the 7-day window.
How refunds are paid. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Razorpay — UPI, card or bank account — and typically appear within 5–7 working days, depending on your bank. We cannot refund to a different account. A credit note is issued against the original GST invoice.
Not covered. Time not used within a paid period, plan changes made mid-period (the difference is adjusted on the next bill instead), and accounts suspended for breaking the terms of use.
This policy is part of the Terms of use above. For anything not covered here, message us and we will find a fair answer.
